February GoCulver.com Google Search Strings

Checking out the latest Google search strings directing people to this site is always good for a laugh. Most of the time they’re fairly sensible (i.e. searching for "goculver.com" or "culver academy band") but sometimes they tend toward the absurd.

For example, apparently someone typed "fun fact about colombia" into Google and ended up here. Now I do not know what specific fun fact about Columbia might be contained on goculver.com, but apparently we have at least one. The oddity of this is compounded by the fact that this search string brought someone to the site, not once, but TWICE. ???

Some of the search strings are more elaborate, such as "punishment and the death penalty edited by robert m. baird and stuart e. rosenbaum 1995 p.109" and (a personal favorite of mine) "establishment of protocols to prevent the transfer of arms to terrorist groups and sub-national illicit organizations". Who knew there was such scholarly, intellectual conversation taking place amongst the numerous "hey guyz, I’m da man," "crocs rule", and "Best Pickup Lines" posts in the forums. See, Google thinks we’re pretty darn smart on here. I for one would like to keep it that way.

My absolute favorite search string though has to be this windswept nugget of comedy gold:

"chuck norris emancipation proclamation"

If you do not find it funny that someone put together the words "Chuck," "Norris," "Emancipation," and "Proclamation" into Google, then you have no soul my friend, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I’m also quite partial to the "culver academies summer 03 deck 3 roster" just because it’s probably from a male alum trying to track down a cute girl from camp (take heed ladies!) but that’s neither here nor there…

Anyway, here is the full string of searches from these first two weeks in February from most popular to least. Notice that "Tunak Tunak Tan" is a surprisingly strong performer and that the last few are real keepers! I’ll try to post these every month or so as its a fun indicator of the sort of content on the site and how people are finding out about it.
