Favorite Camp Food? Ode to Taco Stix
For our latest Culver Summer Camps “Burning Q” poll on Go Culver.com I thought we could sink our hands into something tangible, simple, and very very greasy! Summer Camp Food!
What is your favorite Culver Shack Snack?
Are you a Mozzarella Sticks person?
A French Fries woman?
A fan of the old Taco Sticks?
A classical cheeseburger connoiseur?
Or do you just love a good slurpee?
For my part, I have to say I went with the taco sticks. Sure, dropping by The Shack to eat a tray or three of them dring summer camp pretty much means none of your friends are going to want to be around you for a while and that you just might hurl during afternoon lineup, but they’re still my favorite. Nothing compares. Nothing. Let’s examine the competition:
- While mozzarella sticks are pretty tasty from time to time they just don’t fill you up the way a set of taco stix do….just thinking about their dried-up outer crusts and that gooey taco “meat” inside makes my mouth water and my mind strangely interested in locating all easily accessible garbage cans.
- The $8 Shackburgers are also great, but must we wait 30 minutes for one to be made? Are they in fact killing a cow out back during the interminable wait for a Shackburger as one camper claimed to me? Mr. Flora is a busy man. He doesn’t have 30 minutes to wait for a Shackburger, which knocks them from the highest perch on his Mythical Junkfood Lost.
- I can admit I like a good slurpee from time to time and the French fries at the shack are alright too, but again, none of them can stack up against “THE STIX.” In the end, there can be only one, and it is THE STIX.
So entrenched in my love for THE STIX am I that I’ve written a poem about them. It’s really good:
Ode to Taco Sticks
Taco Sticks, slide through
My intestinal tract, and
Elicit strange looks.
Anyway, thats enough from me.
