Frequently Asked Questions:
“What the heck is this website?”
Go Culver.com (formerly known as Pass in Review Online.com) is a web community for Culver Summer School campers, alumni, and parents. It was started in August of 2005 in the hope of providing a sense of community to Culver Summer campers and alumni during the winter months and to help connect parents and alumni into the day-to-day happenings of camp during the summer. To find out a whole lot about Culver’s Summer Programs in a hurry check out the wikipedia entry on it here or visit the official Culver Academies website here.
The site’s front page blog will feature news updates from camp during the summer and about community events during the winter but there’s much to to explore. Check out site features for:
This is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s lots more to check out and more features turning up every week. In addition to what’s listed above you can check the current Culver weather on the front page, test your knowledge of Culver trivia, explore the Culver Camper’s Guide to the town of Culver and much more!
“How did it come about?”
In the days immediately following the end of the 2005 summer I found myself thinking of ways to help my campers keep in touch during the school year and decided to start a Company 2 website. As I went about learning how to do this I realized the potential for something a bit more ambitious and set about creating what we have thus far. I’m by no means ever finished tinkering with the site and plan to continue expanding its content and layout over time.
“Why did you change the name from Pass in Review Online to GoCulver.com? I liked the old name better!”
While many Culver people agree that Pass in Review Online was a snazzy name for the site….google did not. The fact is that many people find their way around the internet today by simply punching a few words into google and clicking on what shows up below. If someone’s looking for Culver related sites they’re going to search for words like “Culver, Alumni, Summer Camps,” and so forth, and not a single one of those was in our domain name. So Google didn’t like us. Also, this name is SO much easier for the occasional visitor to remember.
“How is this site related to Culver Academies?”
While the Culver Educational Foundation is aware of the site and quite enthusiastic about its mission and aims there is no official connection between the two entities. Messages posted on here by the site’s staff do not in any way reflect the opinions and views of the Culver Educational Foundation or its administration.
