Culver is a city located in Marshall County, Indiana. Also included in the city of Culver are the towns of Burr Oak, Maxinkuckee and Union. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,539. The city is well-known for its location on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee and the Culver Academies prep school as well as the public school, the Culver Community High School.
Geography
Culver is located at 41°13'2" North, 86°25'18" West (41.217340, -86.421726).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 square kilometer|km² (0.8 square mile|mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there were 1,539 people, 655 households, and 410 families residing in the town. The population density was 761.8/km² (1,961.7/mi²). There were 932 housing units at an average density of 461.3/km² (1,188.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.04% White, 0.91% African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. 2.21% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
