First Petty Officer

From Culverpedia

  • Rank: Senior Chief Petty Officer (N), First Sargeant (T/G), Senior First Sergeant (A)
  • Paygrade: E-8
  • Reports Directly to: Unit Commander
  • Works Closely with: Counselors, Platoon Sergeants
  • Description: A unit's First Petty Officer is responsible at all times for knowing the whereabouts of each member of his or her unit. The FPO takes roll at every unit gathering and also calls step and is primarily responsible for leading cadence while marching in formation. It is a swordbearing rank and perhaps the most glamorous and busy position for a second classman to hold in Upper Camp despite not being the highest paygrade position available. First Petty Officers also represent their units during Officer's Figure at Final Ball each summer by carrying their unit's guidon.
