Homecoming Weekend 2006 will take place from Friday July 21 to Sunday the 23rd. This year's festivities go under the heading "On the Waterfront". Check out the Homecoming Discussion Thread to find out who's coming and add your name to the list.

Friday, July 21

  • 8:00AM-6:00PM: Homecoming Registration (Naval Building, Main Campus on Lake Maxinkuckee)- Homecoming packets, schedule changes, class listings, event ticket purchase, and all the information you need for the weekend is here.
  • 1:30PM-3:10PM: Upper Camp classes- Alumni and parents are welcome to attend and even participate in the fun and fabulous offerings that keep children begging to come back to camp year after year.
  • 2:00PM-2:45PM: Woodcraft Camp classes- Alumni and parents are welcome to attend and even participate in the fun and fabulous offerings that keep children begging to come back to camp year after year.
  • 3:00PM-4:30PM: Recreational Sailing (Naval Building Pier)- Try your hand at captaining one of our Naval School’s Interlakes boats. Sign up for use of boats at the Homecoming Registration area in the Naval Building.
  • 3:30PM-5:30PM: Recreational & Athletic Time for Students & Guests
  • 3:30PM-5:00PM: Troop Mounted Drill (Vaughn Equestrian Center)-The Summer Mounted Drill Team is composed of the best riders in Troop and the ladies' mounted unit. The team performs before Garrison parades and at special events on weekends. Come watch the team practice before Parade.
  • 3:30PM: Boys Crew Race (Naval Building Pier)-Boy’s Surfboat Pulling Competitions are a mile course for all 5 Naval Companies. Each unit enters a crew to race both the Chippy (Midshipman140 lbs or less) and the Heavy Surfboat Competitions. These exciting races may be viewed from the shore between The Naval Building and The Huffington Library.
  • 5:30PM-6:30PM: Dinner for Campers, Parents, and Guests (Lay Dining Center or Woodcraft Dining Hall)- Parents and Alumni invited to attend
  • 6:00PM: Jewish Service (Woodcraft Library)
  • 6:30PM: Golden Anniversary and Old Guard Reception and Dinner (Location TBD)
  • 8:00PM: Woodcraft Council Fire (Council Fire Ring)- A special tradition you won’t want to miss. Parking available across from Tennis courts, On RR 10.

Saturday, July 22

  • 6:30AM: Breakfast (Lay Dining Center or Woodcraft Dining Hall)- Parents and Alumni invited to attend
  • 8:30AM-Noon: Woodcraft & Upper Camp classes Visitors welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • 8:30AM-Noon: Culver Summer Camp Class “Clinics” (Locations TBD)- Plan to participate in the Culver Summer Camp experience. Join staff members, guest speakers and students as they update you on the exciting new things being taught in Navigation, Seamanship and Semaphore.
  • 8:00AM-6:00PM: Homecoming Registration (The Naval Building on Main Campus)- Homecoming packets, schedule changes, class listings, event ticket purchase, and all the information you need for the weekend is here.
  • 9:30AM-11:00AM: Mini Woodcraft Camp(Registration at Woodcraft Headquarters)- Have the younger members of your family enjoy the camp experience early. Campers spend the afternoon shadowing and participating in Woodcraft camp activities. A parent must accompany children under the age of 6.
  • 10:00AM: Campus Tours led by students (Culver Academies Admissions Office)- You know our summer program is phenomenal, now see why the Culver Academy is second to none.   • 12:00PM: Classes finished
  • 12:30PM: Lunch for Campers, Parents, and Guests (Lay Dining Center or Woodcraft Dining Hall)- Parents and Alumni invited to attend.
  • 12:30PM: Naval Band Alumni Lunch with Current Bandsmen (Location TBD)
  • 1:00PM: Skippers Meeting (Naval Building Foyer)- All registrants for the Regatta must attend meeting in order to race.
  • 1:00PM: Tour Lake Maxinkuckee aboard the R.H. Ledbetter (Meet at the Naval Building Pier)- Enjoy an afternoon cruise around beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee. Space available on a first come basis.
  • 1:30PM: “The First Century of the Culver Naval School, 1902-2002” (Presentation Room/Huffington Library)- Presented by Bob Hartman, Culver historian. The creation of the Culver Naval School from 1902-2002.
  • 2:00PM: Centennial Cup Regatta Sailing Race (Naval Building)- Spectate or participate in Culver’s Alumni Regatta. Best viewing area; Naval Building Rooftop.
  • 3:30PM: “Tom Brown of Culver (Eilleen Dicke Theater, Eppley Auditorium)- This will include the showing of video footage from the summer school dating back as far as 1937.
  • 4:00PM: Tour Lake Maxinkuckee aboard the R.H. Ledbetter (Meet at the Naval Building Pier)- Enjoy an afternoon cruise around beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee. Space available on a first come basis.
  • 4:00PM: Carillon Recital (Lawn in front of Memorial Chapel)- Enjoy the sounds of the chapel bells followed by a Memorial Chapel Tower Tour. Meet at the Southwest door (toward the Recreation Building)- if you are interested in a tour and demonstration of the instruments. Note: There are 55 steps.
  • 4:30PM: Tour Lake Maxinkuckee aboard the R.H. Ledbetter (Meet at the Naval Building Pier)- Enjoy an afternoon cruise around beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee. Space availability on a first come basis.
  • 5:00PM: Drill Team Exhibitions (Riding Hall Terrace)- Don’t miss this opportunity to see Culvers finest Drill Teams from each unit and deck. Performances by: Girls Drill Team, Girls Honor Guard, Band Drum Line, Naval Drill Team, Aviation Drill Team and the Troop Mounted Drill Team.
  • 6:00PM: Garrison Parade & Pass In Review (Parade Grounds in front of Riding Hall)- Honoring the Golden Anniversary class of 1956 and the Silver Anniversary Class of 1981.
  • 7:00PM: Post Parade Reception (Tent by the Naval Building)- Enjoy an evening on Lake Maxinkukee with alumni, parents and friends.
  • 7:00PM: Woodcraft Awards (Lawn in front of Woodcraft Headquarters)
  • 7:00PM: Golden Anniversary, Old Guard and Silver Anniversary Dinner (Locations TBD)
  • 9:00PM-11:15PM: Student Dance and Ice Cream Social (Terrace behind Dicke Hall of Mathematics/Roberts Hall of Science. Rain site, Recreational Building)- Parents and Alumni invited to attend.

Sunday, July 23

  • 8:00AM: Weekend Schedules available at Main Guard
  • 9:00AM: Roman Catholic Mass (Memorial Chapel)
  • 10:30AM: Protestant Services (Memorial Chapel)- Performance by the Upper Camp and Woodcraft Choir
