Tuxis

From Culverpedia

The Tuxis Program is a Culver Upper Camp program that seeks to encourage campers to reach out and try new things during their time at camp. All campers are provided a "Tuxis sheet" detailing 60 or so tasks which will each earn them one "Tuxis point". The tasks are divided into seven categories: athletics, military, scholarship, citizenship, equestrian, aviation, and naval.

Upon earning a certain number of points from each category (which varies depending on the class of the student) students are awarded either a bronze, silver, or gold Tuxis medal for their efforts. For many this is the first medal they earn at Culver, for some the only. One great merit of the program is that it allows every camper the possibility of earning a medal during their time at camp. The importance of thie cannot be overstated.

While the name of the program is an acronym for "Together Under Christ in Service" there is nothing overtly religioius or spiritual about the program except perhaps for its emphasis on community service and having a balanced camp experience.
